Maria Kyrkousi

Maria is a banking regulation professional. Her career includes positions in law, prudential regulation and capital adequacy assessment. Most recently her professional interest has focussed on securitisation.

Maria is very interested in development and ‘green’ finance. Coming from a small city close to the Greek borders, she recognises the need to allocate resources to foster economic development in decentralised communities and the major positive impact that infrastructure could have for the living standards of their citizens, especially with regards to access to healthcare and education.

Having grown close to nature, she is convinced that societies can profit significantly from environmental solutions being implemented to ‘green’ the cities we live in, restoring the ecosystems which suffered disasters and being proactive with regards to future natural disasters utilising sustainable infrastructure.

Thus, Maria is keen on engaging with initiatives that raise awareness, promote environmental and social planning and facilitate the mobilisation of finance for socially beneficial projects.
